Elke Grunwald, a primary school teacher, is now paddling for more than 20 years. She started with a folding boat on the rivers around her hometown Bremen and later she was guiding tours with her family and friends in Germany, Poland, Denmark and Sweden.
In her kayak club she is the leader of a youth group and teaches paddling in kayak courses. Since 2017 she is the Training Coordinator of the province Bremen in the DKV. She is a certified trainer of DKV and a certified trainer and leader sea of the SALZWASSERUNION. She paddled on whitewater, but her favorite passion is sea kayaking.
On her weekends she mostly can be met on the North Sea or Baltic sea and in her holiday she does expedition tours in Greenland, Thailand, Cambodia and the Caribbean.
